TV Commercials Reach Everyone.

Your ads are built to repel most people and attract the right one.

The goal isn't attention. It's qualification.

"My best-performing ad is 2 minutes long and talks about landing pages vs. instant forms. Most people have no idea what that means. Those people are not my client. The ones who do? They call me already interested."

01
Part One

The Myth of the
Perfect Ad

Boring Beats Polished

  • Ads don't need to be flashy, expensive, or short.
  • They need to speak directly to one person with one problem.
  • Long ads work. If someone watches a 2‑minute ad about your niche topic, they're already interested.
  • A "good" ad isn't one everyone likes. It's one the right person can't scroll past.
  • If it could run for any business in your industry, it's not doing its job.

Landing Pages vs. Instant Forms

"You just watched a boring two-minute ad that you probably had no interest in. It generated $15,500 for me. It's not meant to attract everyone. It's only meant to attract certain people."

"Honestly, this ad's a little half‑assed. I was swamped with clients when I made it. Which is exactly why I brought Marissa on board."

What Are You Actually Dealing With?

One pain point your clients have, or one topic you wish you could explain better in an ad.

  • Answers will appear here as you add them…

Why Boring, Specific Ads Are Winning Right Now

Meta's ad delivery system (the "Andromeda" update, rolled out through 2025) now reads your creative itself to predict who responds to it, instead of relying mainly on the audience targeting you set.

That means creative diversity, not polish, is what gets you in front of more of the right people.

8 to 15

Distinct ad angles per ad set is the new baseline Meta recommends, up from the 3 to 5 most owners run.

+17%

More conversions reported from one ad set running 25 diverse creatives versus five narrow sets on the same budget, at lower cost per result.

Part Two

Who Ads
Work For

Two categories where ads consistently work

Which One Are You?

High-Ticket, Infrequent

One-time or infrequent purchases. One closed deal can pay for months of ad spend.

Repeat & Recurring

Lifetime value compounds, so even thin per-visit margins scale well over time.

What's Your Number?

Ask a couple of people in the room:

  • What's your average client value?
  • How often do clients return or repurchase?

Hold onto their answers. We're running them live on the next slide.

Part Three

Ads Don't Fail.
Systems Fail.

The Ad Gets the Lead.
Everything After That Is on You.

Here's the honest truth: business owners don't track any of this. They might have a rough sense of their lifetime value, and maybe an approximate close rate on referrals. That's it.

The rest? Total blind spots.

Six Numbers Every Owner Needs to Know

  1. Speed to leadTarget: within 5 minutes. No excuse to wait longer.
  2. Lead → booked call %The biggest blind spot most owners have.
  3. No-show %Nobody tracks this. It's a massive leak.
  4. Qualified call → closed deal %Almost nobody knows this for cold leads.
  5. Lifetime valueSometimes known. Rarely used to decide anything.
  6. Client acquisition cost (CAC)Almost nobody knows this number.

"If you don't know these numbers, you can't run ads successfully. Not because the ads don't work. Because you won't know what to fix."

Client story

"We're Not Getting Enough Leads"

They kept telling me the same thing: "We're not getting enough leads."

So we hopped on their next call. Not the owner this time, just the associate who handles calls, and the owner's wife. They were frustrated, ready to blame the ads.

We pulled up their CRM instead. 10 high-quality leads that month. Only one had ever booked a call.

The ads were never the problem. Nobody was following up on the leads they already had. Once the associate fixed it, I got a text I still have saved.

Client message: leads have increased dramatically, coming in from Meta ads and direct outreach, quality has been excellent.

Back to You

  • "Do you know what your speed to lead was?"
  • "Do you know what your lead-to-book-call percentage was?"
  • "Do you know your no-show rate?"

When ads "don't work," most business owners can't actually point to the number that failed. They just stopped.

One more thing on speed to lead

Speed Isn't Optional

Not calling leads fast enough doesn't mean ads can't work. It just means you have to make so much more of every lead that comes in. That adds stress you don't want.

Time-block call windows if you have to. But get there.

04
Part Four

Budget, Timeline
& Compounding

Minimum $50/Day, If the Timeline Is Right

  • You didn't build your business on instant results. Ads are the same.
  • Results compound: Month 1 is data. Month 2 is optimization. Month 3+ is growth.

"How long am I willing to give this to work?"

If the answer is 2 weeks, don't start.

On sales conversations

It's Not Sales. It's Honesty.

I don't think of sales as sales. I think of it as: do I genuinely believe I can solve this person's problem? If the honest answer is no, I tell them that.

You can't close someone just to take their money. Ethics aside, you'll hate your business: high churn, wrong clients, constant friction. Better to have fewer clients who are the right fit.

Not every lead closes. That's okay. Just be honest.

05
Closing

The Belief Shift

"Ads Can Work for My Business."

  • Tried ads and they didn't work? The question isn't "do ads work." It's "where did the system break?"
  • Never tried ads? The only thing stopping you was not knowing your numbers. Now you do.
  • On the fence? The fence is more expensive than the ad spend.
For people who've been burned

It Probably Wasn't the Ads

Bad agency experience? Could be bad work, bad fit, not enough time, or your sales system had holes they pointed to as the problem (which, to be fair, every agency says).

Tried it yourself and it didn't work? Probably didn't give it enough time, got a few bad leads early and quit, or never diagnosed what was actually wrong.

When ads look bad, the instinct is to pause them. That's the wrong move, that's the moment to start asking questions.

On testing and consistency

Never Stop Testing

A lot of business owners think 3 to 5 ads is enough. Run them, see what happens, done.

In reality, we're constantly creating new ads for clients every month. We've tested a lot, so we know what tends to work, but we never stop.

The business owners who fail are the ones who aren't willing to iterate. Everyone's on Facebook and Instagram. Your leads are on there. The question isn't whether they're on the platform, it's how long you're willing to give it before you find them.
